5 things not to miss in Tuscany
A holiday in Tuscany is a gift to be indulged at least once in a lifetime, preferably once a year. Our land is beautiful and generous in many ways: rich in monuments known throughout the world, scattered with enchanted villages and natural landscapes more unique than rare, with an inestimable food and wine heritage. A land of abundance, where every moment becomes a precious memory. Live Tuscany to the full: discover the 5 things not to miss.
1. The Mugello of the Medici
A stay at our country resort is a great way to immerse yourself in the typically Tuscan atmosphere. Mugello, where we are located, combines unspoiled nature, some of the most beautiful villages in Italy and paths traced by history. On holiday in Tuscany, you can’t miss the itinerary of the Medici Villas, residences of the most powerful Florentine family. The Medici family loved to take refuge in the authenticity of Mugello to recover from the commitments of political life. Relive their lives in the rooms of Villa Schifanoia and in its hunting reserve, in the Fortress of San Martino or from the top of the Trebbio Castle. Finally, discover the Cafaggiolo Castle, the favourite residence of Lorenzo the Magnificent, emblem of the Medici dynasty.
2. Tour of art cities
If you are passionate about art, Tuscany is the ideal destination for your holiday. Each town, even the smallest one, is a treasure trove of history and culture. Some of the most visited art cities in the world are a few kilometers from our Resort, first of all Florence, the undisputed queen of the Renaissance. The mus-see attractions are countless: from the prestigious museums, starting with the Uffizi Gallery, to the solemn Duomo, the monumental gardens - Boboli and Bardini gardens - and the noble palaces, many commissioned by the Medici family. In Pisa we suggest you climb the Leaning Tower and admire Piazza dei Miracoli from above, which embraces the Baptistery and the Cathedral. With its medieval soul, Lucca surrounds its historic center with impressive stone walls and hides suggestive churches, lush gardens and squares of unexpected beauty, such as Piazza dell’Anfiteatro and Piazza di San Michele. Siena, famous for the Palio, swarms around the iconic Piazza del Campo and the Torre del Mangia, gets excited in the wonderful Duomo and disperses in the narrow alleys dotted with artisan shops and pastry shops.
3. Excursion to Val d’Orcia
Val d’Orcia is probably the most representative region of Tuscan landscapes. The green cypresses standing out on fields of gold-colored wheat immediately bring us back to Tuscany, and in fact these are typical images from Val d’Orcia. The area, defined as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, extends from Montalcino to Montepulciano up to Pienza, painting endless hills streaked with historic villages. In addition to the mentioned towns, the most beautiful destinations include the romantic Bagno Vignoni and the Abbey of Sant’Antimo.
4. Wine tour in Chianti
A holiday in Tuscany couldn’t be complete without a wine tour in the Chianti region, envied around the world. If you stay at our country resort, in a few minutes you can immerse yourself in the fragrant vineyards, taste excellent local wines and enjoy the typical scents of Chianti Rufina. In fact, some of the most popular cellars in Chianti are around us: Nipozzano, Selva Piana, Castello del Trebbio and Fortuna. For a truly memorable wine experience, let yourself be guided by our staff, who will book for you the best tastings in the Chianti Rufina cellars.
5. Day trip to Garfagnana
Garfagnana is an emerald set in the Apuan Alps and deserves to be visited while on holiday in Tuscany. Very green and wild, it feeds on natural caves, crystal clear streams and canyons worthy of American postcards. Clean air and ancestral traditions deliver this land to a distant time, caught between dream and reality. Evidence of this is the Devil's Bridge, the ancient town of Barga, the Wind Grotto and the village of Fabbriche di Careggine submerged under Lake Vagli.
