Monsignor della Casa Country Resort & Spa offers a variety of accommodation options, each with its own unique features. Rooms are ideal for couples or families and include breakfast. Fully equipped apartments are designed for longer stays in a residence-style format, offering the freedom and privacy of a Tuscan home. Suites provide more spacious layouts and exclusive amenities, some with whirlpool tubs. Private villas with pools represent the most exclusive option: each villa features a private, heatable swimming pool surrounded by the greenery of the estate. All accommodations are individually furnished in Tuscan style and include free Wi-Fi and satellite LCD TV.

What are the check-in and check-out times? Can they be flexible?

Check-in is available from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM, and check-out is by 10:30 AM. Guests arriving before 3:00 PM may leave their luggage at reception free of charge while their room is being prepared. Late check-out is available upon request until 5:00 PM for an additional fee of €35, subject to availability. Is the resort suitable for families with children?

Monsignor della Casa Country Resort & Spa is highly appreciated by families. The resort features a dedicated family pool with sunbathing area, a playground with slide and swing, and various activities for older children, including tennis, soccer, volleyball, table tennis, and foosball. Children up to 4 years old stay free of charge. Cribs are available upon request at no extra cost. The city tax does not apply to children under 14.

Does the resort offer parking?

The resort provides a large free parking area within the estate. It is covered with a traditional reed canopy and secured by a gate that is closed at night, ensuring guests’ vehicles remain safe.

Are pets allowed at Monsignor della Casa Country Resort & Spa?

Small dogs up to 15 kg are welcome for an additional fee of €20 per day, in designated rooms (maximum one dog per room). Pets are not allowed in the breakfast area, restaurant, or spa. Leashes are required in outdoor spaces. Guests must inform the resort at the time of booking so that the most suitable accommodation can be assigned.

What wellness services does the Spa offer?

The spa is a complete wellness center designed for total relaxation. It includes a sauna, Turkish bath (hammam), and a small jacuzzi pool, all available for exclusive private use for one hour at €20 per person (€10 for children aged 4–15). The treatment menu includes classic massages, PNEI body and facial treatments, and Maria Galland facial treatments. All treatments require advance booking.

Are the resort pools open year-round?

The resort features four pools. Two shared pools—one for families and one adults-only—are seasonal and typically open from April to October and are not heated. The two private villa pools can be heated and are available outside the summer season. For year-round pool access, guests are encouraged to book a private villa.

Is the resort suitable for couples seeking privacy and relaxation?

The resort is a popular destination for couples. The adults-only pool ensures peace and privacy. The spa can be reserved for exclusive private use. Villas with private pools offer maximum intimacy, surrounded by 200 hectares of olive groves, vineyards, and woods. Upon request, the staff can arrange flowers, wine or prosecco in the room, and candlelit dinners.

What sports activities are available?

The resort offers a wide range of sports facilities, including a tennis court, soccer field, gym, volleyball courts, table tennis, and foosball. Complimentary bicycles are available for exploring the estate and surrounding hills, while e-bikes can be rented for more challenging excursions. From June to September, the resort also offers poolside yoga sessions and guided trekking experiences.

Is yoga or meditation available?

Yoga sessions are organized poolside from June to September in a peaceful Tuscan countryside setting. The estate’s 200 hectares also provide ideal spaces for independent meditation and quiet walks. Private sessions or personalized wellness programs can be arranged upon request.

What is Enoteca del Monsignore and when is it open?

Enoteca del Monsignore is the resort’s restaurant and wine bar, offering traditional Tuscan cuisine prepared with organic ingredients, many sourced directly from the resort’s garden. The menu includes homemade pasta, artisanal bread, fresh vegetables, grilled Florentine steak, game dishes, and truffle specialties. Dinner is served à la carte every evening, either in the charming outdoor piazzetta under the stars during summer or by the fireplace during colder months. A buffet breakfast is served daily. Light lunch is available daily from June to September and on weekends during other months.

Is breakfast included?

Breakfast is included for all guests staying under the B&B formula. The buffet features typical Tuscan products and homemade sweet and savory cakes, served indoors or outdoors under the olive trees. Guests staying in apartments do not have breakfast included but may add it for an additional fee. Guests are encouraged to check their booking details for specific inclusions.

Are vegetarian, vegan, or special dietary options available?

The restaurant offers vegetarian and vegan options, highlighting organic vegetables from the resort’s garden. For guests with gluten intolerance, the restaurant is not certified gluten-free; however, for mild intolerances where cross-contamination is acceptable, the staff can prepare gluten-free dishes using separate cooking methods. Guests are advised to communicate dietary needs at the time of booking.

Is outdoor dining or private romantic dining available?

Outdoor dining is available in the resort’s piazzetta under centuries-old olive trees during summer. In winter, the indoor dining room with fireplace creates an equally romantic atmosphere. Private candlelit dinners can be arranged upon request, with personalized menus, selected wines, and dedicated setup. Guests are encouraged to contact the resort in advance.

Where is the resort located and how do you get there from Florence?

The resort is located in Via di Mucciano 16, in the Mugello area, about 27 km (17 miles) from Florence and 3 km from Borgo San Lorenzo. By car, it takes approximately 35 minutes via Via Bolognese or Via Faentina. By train, Borgo San Lorenzo station is about one hour from Florence, but the resort is not reachable on foot—car or transfer is required. Having a car is strongly recommended.

How do you reach the resort from Florence Airport?

Florence Airport (Amerigo Vespucci) is approximately 40–50 km away, about a 45–55 minute drive. Private transfers can be arranged upon request. From Bologna Airport (80 km), Pisa Airport (120 km), or Milan Malpensa (280 km), private transfer or car rental is recommended. Parking at the resort is free.

Is a car necessary?

Yes, having a car is strongly recommended. The resort is located in the countryside and not accessible by public transportation. Borgo San Lorenzo is just 5 minutes away by car and offers shops, restaurants, and a train station with direct connections to Florence.

How far are the main attractions from the resort?

Monsignor della Casa Country Resort & Spa is surrounded by a wide range of historical, natural, and motorsport attractions. The Mugello Circuit is just 8 km away, about a 10-minute drive, while the birthplace of Giotto can be reached in just a few minutes. Florence is 27 km away and can be reached in approximately 35 minutes by car.
Lake Bilancino, perfect for canoeing and water activities, is about 17 km from the resort, and the Barberino Designer Outlet is just 22 km away. Some of Tuscany’s most iconic destinations—such as Siena, San Gimignano, Pisa, Lucca, and even Bologna—are all within a 1 to 2-hour drive, making the resort an ideal base for exploring both Tuscany and Emilia-Romagna. The Cinque Terre can be reached in approximately 2 hours and 30 minutes by car.

 Yes, it is only 8 km away. It is a preferred base for motorsport enthusiasts attending events. The resort also organizes driving experiences and Vespa tours.

What is the history of the resort?

The resort is named after Giovanni della Casa, a 16th-century writer who lived in the Renaissance villa at the heart of the estate. He authored Galateo, one of the most important works on etiquette in European literature. The Mugello area is also the birthplace of Giotto and the Medici family. The property is part of the prestigious “Residenze d’Epoca” network of historic Italian residences.
